“The subject, a priori, captures the reader’s attention, for this study, as Dean Marty rightly points out in his preface, fills a gap in French private law doctrine, which has paid little attention to situating the categories of union or collective act in relation to contract. The author deserves credit for focusing his efforts on a little-explored area of legal doctrine; above all, he should be praised for conducting his research objectively and for not forcing his conclusions: the author readily admits (p. 317) that the domain of contract remains both broader and richer than that of collective act. Nevertheless, alongside contract and unilateral act, collective act can find its place among legal acts, and Messrs. Marty and Raynaud adopted this classification in their Treatise on Civil Law: this demonstrates the persuasive force of the thesis put forward by Mr. Roujou de Boubée.” » (Roger Nerson, RIDC, n° 1/1963, p. 234 et seq.).
