    FOURNIVAL (Simon)
GENERAL COLLECTION OF TITLES, concerning the Functions, Ranks, Dignities, Sessions, and Privileges of the offices of the Presidents, Treasurers of France, Generals of Finance, and Grand Governors of the Generalities of the Kingdom. Drawn from Royal Ordinances, Edicts, Declarations, Regulations, and Decrees of the King's Councils, and from the Registers of the Sovereign Courts and Companies. A very useful and necessary work for all Judges, Magistrates, Financial Officers, Lawyers, and other persons following the Council, Courts, and Jurisdictions of this Kingdom
Édition :
    Paris
Date :
    1655
folio, full contemporary brown calfskin, gilt title on a burgundy morocco slipcase, spine with 6 raised bands richly decorated with lace, gilt friezes and framing fillets, rolls highlighting the edges, speckled edges (joints entirely split but stitching still solid, headcaps damaged, corners bumped, heavy scuffing on the spine and edges, boards rubbed with scuffing, some light marginal dampstaining without affecting the text), [3 ff.]-1252 p.-XXVII.
Guillaume François de Bure already noted in 1768 that this was "a rather sought-after work, because it is practically the only one in which the rights concerning the Company of Treasurers of France have been thoroughly treated. Copies are not common." (Bibliographie instructive ou Traité de la connaissance des livres rares, Paris, De Bure, 1768, Vol. II, p. 173). We would add further that our copy is considerably better preserved, in terms of paper quality, than those in the libraries we consulted. Dupin, ref. 935 (notably missing from Berkeley).
