(Dupin No. 702). This absolutely essential work compiles the deliberations of the conference, which included members of the King's Council and Parliament, on the draft civil and criminal ordinances of 1667 and 1670, based on the minutes kept by the conference clerk. The text comprises, article by article, the draft submitted to the conference, a summary of its deliberations, and the final adopted text. It is therefore a striking precursor to the Council of State's opinion on the Civil Code. An examination of the deliberations reveals a considerable degree of freedom of expression on the part of the Council members.
