A significant body of literature on automobile law began to appear around 1900. The first thesis was defended in 1903 (P. Haber, *L'automobile devant la loi* - The Automobile Before the Law), and from 1905 onward, legal journals and motorists' associations alike addressed the topic. The present work, published in 1905, is therefore not the first on the subject. It is, however, one of the most comprehensive published at that time. It includes sections on the sale of automobiles, the legal framework (which is quite interesting) concerning manufacturing defects, the regulatory parts of automobiles (which foreshadow the future of automobile traffic regulations), and finally, liability in the event of an accident.
