in-8, pl. marbled calf, plain cover, spine with raised bands, boards and edges decorated with a blind-stamped frieze, red edge, (writing legible in itself but on part of the leaves the ink has passed through and requires sustained attention for reading), ex dono manuscript on the flyleaf (one of these flyleaves stained), 260-60 ff.
A captivating little manuscript written by the clerk of a royal prosecutor, containing first a collection of common legal documents, then a study of observations on the system of public auctions and seizures, and finally a series of "minor questions" in question-and-answer format. These should not be interpreted as a theory of law, but rather as a compendium of procedural knowledge necessary for those who were the equivalent of a lawyer's assistant at the time. Despite its shortcomings, it is a very engaging text.
