This correspondence covers, in particular, the entire period during which he was removed from the chancellery and ordered to retire to his estate in Fresnes (1718-1722). He wrote extensively during this time, especially to his son, who was running for the position of attorney, and to some of his friends. This is the complete collection of this important correspondence.
