Wenck, court advisor to the Elector of Saxony and professor of law and history at the University of Leipzig, published this collection of treaties between various states covering the period 1735-1772. It reproduces all the authoritative versions, so that almost all the texts are also published in French. It is one of the finest collections of 18th-century treaties. The history of these copies (which explains their condition) is noteworthy: after belonging to a German jurist, G.F. Bucholz, they were then placed in a library in New Orleans, where they still bear the bookplate, and have now returned to France.
