(Dramard No. 1220). “There is no author in the new law, nor even in the old, who has treated the subject of servitudes better than Mr. Pardessus” (Camus No. 1410); “a work of remarkable erudition” (F. Laferrière, History of French Law, Vol. 2, p. 398). According to Laferrière, Pardessus was the first author to give impetus to legal doctrine, which had been lagging until then, following the great Napoleonic codification movement. The work also contains interesting discussions on public utility servitudes. Furthermore, we have here a copy from the latest edition, which discusses in substantial notes the doctrinal criticisms leveled against the work.
