This captivating collection of two advanced lectures is presented here. In the first, the author examines eleven recent cases in public international law, notably the issue of violations of international law in the armistice of June 22, 1940. The second focuses on the Fischer v. Rosenberg case concerning war booty, particularly the legal regime for works of art stolen during the Second World War (based on a judgment of the Swiss Federal Court). The second text is devoted to the history of international law, examining both its influences (and doctrine) and positive law, with particular attention to the rules of international trade, territorial regimes, and freedom of the seas. This volume makes the author's thought accessible, as it is not expressed in a general textbook and, in fact, unfolds more through historical analysis than through general exposition.
