    We know the pivotal role played by the author, who, although an Italian teaching in France, had on the doctrine of criminal law. He influenced the entire series of German penal codes drafted between 1838 and 1840. We have here the best edition, as it is preceded by an introduction of over 100 pages by Faustin Hélie, which constitutes an admirable critical reading of this work.
