(Dupin No. 1375). This important work comprises, firstly, the complete text of the five major codes and the Charter of 1814, but most importantly, its substantial second part includes a dissertation entitled “On Law in General, its Essence and its Object”; a compendium of case law notes on the five codes (arranged by article number); and a study of the procedure followed before the Court of Cassation, including references to all the judgments rendered by that Court on appeals to the Court of Cassation up to the date of publication. It also contains the first edition of the important “Council of State according to the Charter,” which S. published the same year. Moreover, in this latter text, S. explicitly indicates the borrowings from it. However, other passages, particularly technical ones, have not been reprinted.
