As it was not completed at the time of his death, several people took possession of his papers, publishing fragments, annotated, updated, and supplemented them. Thus, in 1837, the treatise on public and civil action appeared, followed in 1839 by a treatise on official reports, edited under the direction of Faustin-Hélie (MDD cat 12-365), and in 1847 by a treatise on written investigation and the regulation of jurisdiction in criminal matters (MDD cat 9-255). A methodical and practical work, it enjoyed great popularity in the 19th century. But today it is essential to emphasize that it constitutes one of the most reliable historical foundations for many institutions (the status of the public prosecutor's office, prosecutions of public officials and elected representatives, etc.).
