The author, one of the foremost specialists in 19th-century judicial law (notably known for his famous Treatise on Evidence and his updated edition of Ortolan's Elements of Criminal Law), published "Elements of Judicial Organization and Civil Procedure" in 1847, which he later divided into two separate works. One of the main advantages of these new editions is that they incorporate all the changes in thinking that occurred during the July Revolution and the beginning of the Second Empire. Legal aid (law of 1851), the irremovability of magistrates, and the election of certain judges are analyzed in detail in a substantial introduction. It should be noted that this edition is rare and is not held by the National Library of France (BnF).
