(Dramard No. 2292). Published more than 50 years before Bonnier's first edition, this uncommon text on the law of evidence constitutes the first modern reflection on this question, and indeed the only one, if we are to believe Dramard, during the entire first half of the 19th century. The substantial historical essay is especially important for understanding the transition from the old law to the new law in this area. Solon was one of the greatest Toulouse lawyers of the 19th century, and we owe him studies in which legal history and the old law are always present, as evidenced by the present text, which is a re-edition of a treatise by a former President of the Parliament of Metz, informed by the provisions of the new procedural law. Solon had been trained at the University of Jurisprudence, and it seems that this "pre-exegetical" training was one of the reasons for his interest in the old law.
