folio, contemporary ivory vellum, smooth spine, handwritten title, red and black title page, initial letters and tailpieces, (slight cracking of the vellum on the spine, one damaged corner, some foxing), good copy despite the aforementioned defects, 8 f.-1124 p.-39 f.
As Dupin points out (no. 445), this text, rather than being a collection of Roman law, is actually a collection of rulings from the Parliament of Chambéry, of which the author was the first president. It is known that his works retained particular importance throughout the Ancien Régime and that he was regarded, alongside Cujas, Loyseau, and Dumoulin, as one of the most important French jurists. Our copy comes from a superb Lyon edition (with a view of the city of Lyon as a frontispiece in a contemporary vellum cover in fine condition, making it a rare and very high-quality set).
