A remarkable collection of three texts concerning usury. First, the original edition of the translation of Bentham's work, with an introduction by the Saint-Simonian Bazart, and Turgot's memoir on loans. It is supplemented by two French academic works by magistrates: the first clearly opposed to the 1807 law on lending at interest, and the second responding to a consultation published in the Sirey in 1822 (Part 2, p. 41), attempting to limit the scope of usury. A rare set.
