B. was one of D'Aguesseau's principal inspirations for drafting the new ordinances. He was also one of the few to defend, following Henrys, the idea that Roman law was the common law of France. In this, he opposed the classical French customary law authors (Loyseau, Coquille) in favor of a more rationalist approach, as evidenced by the alphabetical presentation of his work, which breaks with previous formats. It should be added that his voluminous preface constitutes one of the best bibliographies of authors who wrote on the jurisprudence of the Parliaments, particularly because, unlike Dupin, he does not hesitate to use critical, even highly critical, considerations regarding certain authors (see, in particular, his vigorous challenge to B. d'Argentré's legal expertise).\u003c\/p\u003e","brand":"Mémoire du Droit","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":51962480951643,"sku":"7896","price":182.94,"currency_code":"EUR","in_stock":false}],"url":"https:\/\/www.memoiredudroit.fr\/en\/products\/7896-bretonnier-recueil-par-ordre-alphabetique-1","provider":"La Mémoire du Droit","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
