GUICHARD (Auguste-Charles)
MUNICIPAL CODE OR BREIAVIA OF MUNICIPAL OFFICERS
Édition :
    Paris
Date :
    1791
in-12, mottled blond calf, smooth spine decorated, title page in brown morocco, gilt edges, gilt fillet framing the covers, (covers rubbed, joints slightly split, headcaps a little short, corners and edges worn), interior very fresh, XXVIII-588 p.
The original edition is missing from the BNF (National Library of France), which only holds a second edition from 1795, the content of which is significantly different. It is also missing from Berkeley and Dupin. This is a valuable work for studying the beginnings of modern municipal law: it brings together all the initial revolutionary provisions on the subject. It is also an important source of information on the practical functioning of municipalities, thanks in particular to a collection of model documents (resolutions for awarding contracts at reduced rates; for the publication of laws; "for the use of municipal funds"...).
