After 1945, instead of publishing a new 12-volume edition of the Répertoire (which had been appearing since 1910), Dalloz undertook the creation of this “New Répertoire,” attempting to correct the shortcomings of the previous edition, particularly its insufficient doctrinal focus. For this reason, Georges Ripert was entrusted with the direction of the New Répertoire, and he enlisted the help of numerous academics. The additions made from 1951 onward, in the form of loose-leaf booklets, are of little interest, since Dalloz then focused on producing subject-specific encyclopedias, which gradually replaced the original.
