TREATY OF THE FEFS, new ed.
Édition :
    Paris
Date :
    1749
quarto, mottled fawn calf, spine with raised bands and gilt decoration, red edges, set of burgundy morocco title, blind-tooled fillet framing the boards and rolls on the edges, text decorated with vignettes and initial letters, (corners slightly bumped, 2 joints slightly split, lower spine end short, some foxing, library mark) a pleasing copy, IV-519 p.
(Dupin no. 1088). This text is highly regarded, particularly the edition presented here, supplemented with notes by Boucher d'Argis, because it constitutes a methodical yet also very clear and simplified analysis of this legal system, which in the 18th century had become appallingly complex. It thus belongs to the tradition of works from the second half of the 18th century that attempted to reduce French law to maxims or principles.
