    J. Dauvilliers, in his important article on the role of the Toulouse Faculty of Law in the renewal of legal and historical studies in the 19th and 20th centuries (Annales de Toulouse, Vol. 24, p. 363), refers to him in these terms: “a scholar of great worth who introduced Savigny's historical method into our Faculty; his teaching and work had a significant impact not only in France but also abroad.” Dramard is full of praise for each of Benech's works on civil law, even though he is now better known for his role in the controversy between Savigny, Berriat Saint Prix, and himself concerning the manner in which Cujas was received in Toulouse. He further emphasizes (no. 2681) that the present text is rare. Indeed, we have here a methodical examination of a woman's powers over the property that constitutes her dowry.
