    A rare Montauban printing presents the ordinances issued by Louis XV concerning criminal procedure, drafted by Chancellor d'Aguesseau. The ordinance concerning forgery and the recognition of handwriting constitutes one of the earliest examples of the incorporation into positive law of rules developed by modern scholars for establishing proof. It was known as the "code of forgery."
