A treatise on simony, analyzing—and reinforcing—the very strict rules imposed by the Council of Trent, it is in particular a very firm indictment of ecclesiastical benefices granted for reasons other than the merits of the person receiving them. The author was one of the most important Jesuit jurists of the 17th century.
