octavo, contemporary vellum well preserved, (spine and exterior of covers browned) poem in early 17th century French of 9 lines handwritten on the front cover, 3 handwritten Ex-Libris on the title page (a 4th has been cut out, very slight loss on the page, some old underlining from pp. 709-725, some foxing), remarkable copy except for these few defects, 14 f.-806 p.-6 f.
First published in 1545, this text was met with the wrath of both Roman and Protestant censorship (Dumoulin was successively a Calvinist and Lutheran, then persecuted as a heretic by Calvin). For a long time, this banned text was republished under the pseudonym Gaspar Caballinus de Singulo. However, it should be noted that this edition bears the name of Charles Dumoulin. This is the edition held by the National Library of France, and the present copy, like the BNF text, is followed by the famous discourse on the unification of French customs, which was not included in the author's complete works and constitutes one of the major works on the drafting and reform of customs, aiming to make them a single, codified source of written law for the territory. Exceptional and very rare. Included is the work by Le GOFF, DUMOULIN ET LE PRÊT À INTERÊT, LE LÉGISTE, SON INFLUENCE, reprint Megariotis Genève of the 1905 edition, in-8, XIX-269 p.
