COCHIN (Henry)
WORKS OF THE LATE MR. COCHIN, ESQUIRE, LAWYER AT PARLIAMENT, CONTAINING A COLLECTION OF HIS MEMOIRS AND CONSULTATIONS
Édition :
    Paris
Date :
    1751-57
6 vols. in-4, bound with arms, mottled brown calf, spine with 5 raised bands decorated with fleurons, beige page and tom. edges, red edges, two-color red-black printing of the title page, (very slight rubbing and nicks on 4 vols., small loss on one page, rare dampstaining and foxing), engraved portrait of Cochin outside the text, a fine copy.
For Dupin (no. 909), this is the best edition of this text. French law in the first half of the 18th century could be summarized as a triangle: D'Aguesseau for the law, Pothier for legal doctrine, and Cochin for the Bar. His pleadings before the Grand Chamber, the Grand Council, and other courts clearly constitute a monument not only to eloquence but also to the practice of law. A fine copy despite the noted flaws. Rare in this condition.
