quarto, contemporary vellum, (stained binding, clippings at the beginning and end of the volume, involving a loss of leather on both covers and some paper losses in the margin on the first 25 and last 40 pages, slight marginal damp stain at the beginning), Ex-Libris of Gilbert Douet, 10 ff-435 p.
We have here a work of extreme rarity and considerable interest. It brings together several of Dumoulin's fundamental works: - The treatise on the procedure of the Parliament of Paris augmented by Étienne Aufreri's annotations on the Parliament of Toulouse; - The collection of ordinances of the kings of France gathered by Dumoulin on matters of public law (on the institution of parliaments, on offices, on justice, etc.), some of these ordinances having not been reproduced until now; - Dumoulin's commentary on the “treatise on the privileges of the kingdom of France” (also known as the “Lilies of France”), by Ferraud, who was one of the first authors to describe the privileges and rights of the king. Among the 20 privileges he cites, the following stand out: “Rex franciæ neminem recogniscit in temporalibus superiorem; solu rex facit constitutiones seu reges in regno franciæ; nemo in regno franciæ de portu armorum cognoscit nisi rex; coronam regni franciæ non potest succedere foemina, nec masculus ex ea descendantens.” It should be noted that this treatise was rarely reprinted in earlier times and that Dumoulin's work is one of the only ways to access it; - Dumoulin's annotations on the famous collection of decrees of the Parliament of Paris by Jean le Coq (Johannes Galli), the first published in the 14th century; - A collection of more recent decrees of the Parliament of Paris entirely compiled by Dumoulin; - A collection of decrees of the Parliament of Toulouse by Étienne Aufreri, already mentioned. In total, this work is a compilation of texts written by Dumoulin in his capacity as a lawyer at the Parliament of Paris, devoted to royal power and its institutions. It is worth noting that the owner of this copy in the 16th century copied onto the flyleaf the epitaph of the famous 15th-century jurist, Pierre de Belleperche, who was buried at Notre-Dame. This epitaph has since disappeared.
