A side episode of the Affair involved the conviction of Lieutenant-Colonel Picquart's lawyer, who had worked to prove Dreyfus's innocence. The Bar Council ruled that the actions he had taken were incompatible with the practice of law and suspended him for six months in 1908. We have all the documents from this case up to the Bar Council's new decision of 1907, which overturned the previous ruling.
