    11 volumes in-8, half-bound in green empire morocco, titles and volumes on garnet and ebony leather, spine with five raised bands decorated with gilt and blind-stamped underlining fillets, blind-stamped fleurons, speckled edges, (bindings rubbed with quite a few and sometimes significant abrasions, two sunned spines, two headcaps missing, boards also slightly rubbed, very numerous foxing spots and pinholes inside, paper sometimes acidified), fairly average condition.
    A good edition of Marcadé's treatise, which we know he died before completing. He himself wrote the commentaries on articles 1 to 1831, as well as the title of the prescription (articles 2219 to 2281). Included are the volumes that Paul Pont published to supplement this commentary. Dramard (no. 83) emphasizes that "Marcadé's commentary immediately achieved great and well-deserved success, due as much to its value and the soundness of its principles as to the felicitous form of their exposition, the sharp turn of the argument, and the quality of the style." He also notes the sometimes aggressive method of the controversy, which led the author to write in the margin, "error of Messrs. Duranton and Delvincourt."
