    After 1945, rather than publishing a new 12-volume edition of the Répertoire (which had been published since 1910), Dalloz undertook the creation of this "New Répertoire," attempting to correct the shortcomings of the previous edition, particularly its insufficient doctrinal focus. For this reason, the direction of the New Répertoire was entrusted to Georges Ripert, who enlisted the help of numerous academics. This general directory had a rather short lifespan, as from 1951 onward, it was only supplemented with loose-leaf additions and was gradually replaced by the Dalloz Encyclopedia, organized by subject.
