    40 volumes in-8, half ochre calfskin, gilt titles and volumes on smooth spines decorated with gilt lines and friezes, speckled edges, (rare and light marks of wear on the bindings, sometimes a few small abrasions or non-penetrating wormholes, edges and corners sometimes slightly rubbed, some volumes with foxing and spots), overall in good condition.
    A very rare complete collection, presented here in an elegant and well-preserved binding. J.-B. Duroselle, in his review of this monumental forty-volume work, praises the qualities of the "doctrines" based on an original conception of the place of the French Revolution in history, particularly thanks to the author's more philosophical than historical approach. A. Cuvillier also offers high praise and emphasizes the author's merits in his overall scholarly approach.
