    This work, written by a minister well-known to General de Gaulle and following in the footsteps of his previous books on the history of Gaullism and the founding of the Fifth Republic, allows him to describe his time as President of the Constitutional Council. On this latter point, the book is a valuable source of information. It is worth noting that the author refers to it as a "court," criticizing its composition and operation, and discussing its initial decisions, particularly those concerning elections, noting that "the law professors were watching us closely." He also mentions that former Presidents of the Fourth Republic, including Vincent Auriol, served on the Council.
