(Dupin no. 990). Ricard's treatise on wills has always been considered the best work on the subject. The treatise on the revocation of gifts by the birth or arrival of children is very interesting for its study of the legal regime of natural and legitimized children. It also contains some curiosities: "whether a child born after a cesarean section can revoke a gift made by its father before its birth," "whether a monstrous newborn enjoys the privilege... to revoke a gift." The work concludes with a general overview of, on the one hand, the customs of Amiens and local customs with notes by Dumoulin, and on the other hand, the custom of Senlis. It is the most complete analysis of these two customs. Our Riom edition is also very rare. Dupin indicates that this is the preferable edition but that “it is becoming increasingly difficult to find; it is claimed that this rarity comes from the fact that the owner had almost all the copies put on the ream at the beginning of the Revolution, no doubt considering that the old works, even the best ones, would no longer be of any use in France”.
