2 vols. folio, full brown calf, gilt titles and volumes on spines with 6 raised bands richly decorated with gilt fleurons, friezes and framing fillets, gilt roll on the edges, marbled edges, red and black title pages, headbands, vignettes and initials, dry bookplate "Bibl. de Gimel", (binding rubbed with scuffs, headcaps torn, missing leather on the upper part of the spine and the lower edge of vol. II, dampstaining in the interior of vol. I), interior fairly fresh, 718 / 632 p.
(Dupin no. 1316). A work of excellent reputation, praised in these terms by Henrys: “Since the aforementioned Monsieur Brodeau has combined practice with study, and the application of the bar with the reading of good books, one can not better employ one's time than to read what he has left us of his remarks; if Monsieur Louet's collection is commendable in itself, it is no less so for its commentary” (collection of judgments, book 1, chapter 3, p. 36). It is indeed one of the best collections of jurisprudence from the Parliament of Paris of the 17th century, still cited today in legal histories as one of the principal jurisprudential sources (see, for example, A.M. Patault, Introduction historique au droit des biens, PUF 1989). One of its main advantages lies in its alphabetical dictionary format, in which the rulings are inserted logically (see, for example, the entry on custom). Our edition is beautifully printed. It clearly separates the original text, the summary additions of rulings from other parliaments, and the fundamental supplements made by Brodeau to the initial text. This is an intermediate publication for this collection, which would go through nearly fifteen editions until 1742.
