    This reprint is from the second edition of Hauriou's treatise on constitutional law, which notably includes remarkable developments on the concept of constitutional custom, a notion that would later disappear from the French constitutional landscape. Furthermore, Hauriou's discussion with Kelsen in the preface to this treatise is sometimes overlooked; this discussion is less well-known than the prefaces to his administrative law works, and was written less than a year before the author's death.
