It was the impetus given by Salvandy and Cousin during their time at the Ministry of Public Instruction that led to the translation into French of works of Germanic legal doctrine of a type that did not previously exist: legal encyclopedias that methodically describe, for the use of students, all the principles of law, its principal branches, and structures. This one was the first of its kind and can be considered the first general introduction to law available to French students. It would also be interesting to show how introductions to law, even today, remain indebted to certain structures of this Germanic influence. Furthermore, it contains a good bibliography of German law from the first half of the 19th century. Uncommon.
