This work seeks to define the paradox of the legal interplay between actors in international conflicts, integrating them into a theory of play that is first and foremost a theory of complexity. This theory embraces the risk of uncertainty and unfolds in the form of dialectics. Applied to law itself, the epistemology of its science, and the ethics of its implementation, this dialectic suggests that the legal realm is found at the intersection of strategy and representation, cooperation and conflict, reality and fiction, regulation and indeterminacy, internality and externality. It lies on the third path of the in-between and the paradoxical. Thus emerges a playful paradigm of law, a sign of a philosophy of law attuned to the complexity of our times.
