    The first thesis in this internationally renowned collection, especially in its early days. This volume includes a foreword by Henry Solus justifying the necessity and importance of this new collection. It is very rare and, to quote André Rouast in his review of the thesis upon its publication, constitutes a "scientific monument that will mark a date" [A. Rouast, RIDC, 1958, no. 10-2, p. 440], initiating a path that has continued to be explored by numerous authors ever since.
