    This is a 20th-century reprint of the 19th-century scholarly edition of the only Grand Coutumier de France, dating from 1514 (under Charles VI), which predates Bouteiller's Somme rurale. The preface is also of major interest, as it sheds light on the circumstances under which the manuscripts were discovered and used by Charondas le Caron. It also traces the history of the various interpreters of this text up to the work of Klimrath.
