    This is an excellent work by the Attorney General of the Lyon Court of Appeal, and we present here one of his earliest treatises on the history of customary civil law. It is, in fact, the notes from a lecture given at the Catholic Faculty of Law in Lyon in 1880. They constitute one of the major texts on the origins of customary law brought to light by contemporary legal scholarship on the history of French law. A rare find.
