    in-4, full fawn calfskin, gilt title on a piece of fawn morocco, spine with 5 raised bands richly decorated with fleurons, friezes and gilt framing fillets, red edges, gilt roll on the edges, headbands, vignettes and tailpieces, double column printing, Ex-Libris labeled "M. Le Baron de Troussures à Beauvain", (headcaps damaged, corners bumped with some missing pieces, edges slightly rubbed, joints split, library marks, some foxing in the interior), fresh interior, XIJ-364 p.
    Rare and sought-after first—and only—edition of this dictionary. Despite the title, it is not a quadrilingual dictionary but a collection of archaic words gleaned from archives, from which "we [...] have quoted phrases that precisely determine the meaning of the word Celtic, Walloon, or Romance, which is the subject of each entry" (p. xi). According to Goethals, it was inspired by Borel and Oberlin's "Essay on the Lorraine Dialect." The word "Tudesque," for its part, is specific to the ancient Germanic peoples. Father François OSB (Acremont 1772–1791) combined his faith and literature, being active in the academies of Metz (he wrote a history of the city) and Trier.
