7 vols. in-8, mottled brown calf, spine with raised bands richly decorated, title and volume covers in brown morocco, marbled edge, gilt fillets on the edges and blind-tooled on the boards, (covers and binding rubbed, gilt faded, raised bands of vols. V and VIII partially torn, headcaps damaged, corners and edges slightly worn, title page of vol. I torn), interior fairly fresh.
    F. was one of D'Aguesseau's closest jurists and, in particular, one of the true authors of the ordinances generally attributed to the chancellor. His works appeared separately but, after his death, benefited from two collected editions: a quarto edition, which actually reused several earlier copies, and an octavo edition, the one we have newly printed, containing a useful table of contents. It is known that the author wrote on all the major areas of private law. Less well known is that he is the author of a "Treatise on Universal Feudal Lordship and Natural Freehold," which is a general theory on land ownership from a feudal perspective, in its relation to the king's rights. A rather uncommon work.
