(Dupin no. 1519). The author (1623-1699) devoted the majority of his works to family law. They enjoyed considerable success in their dissemination as separate treatises, to the point that, at a time when the trend in publishing was toward collecting the works of great jurists, it was natural to bring them together, just like those of Loyseau, Ricard, or Le Brun. This treatise, like Pothier's on the same subject (see above), allows us to describe one of the important elements of the legal subjugation of women under the old law.
