I: headcaps with small losses, title page with slight leather losses, bumped corners, lower edge worn and dark dampstain in the lower margin but not affecting the text, light dampstain at the top of pages up to p. 254, occasional foxing; for vol. II: joints slightly worn, corners slightly bumped, slight losses on boards, an isolated wormhole on the first compartment, some dampstaining; for vol. III: lower headcap with slight losses, some scuffing on boards, corners slightly bumped, occasional foxing and dampstaining; for vol.     In a previous catalogue (nos. 11-34), we presented Prost de Royer's revised edition of Brillon's dictionary, the seventh volume of which ends with the entry for "assignation" (summons). Here we have the latest edition of this dictionary, in six large folio volumes. Dupin (no. 1298) considers it a "poor work," which is a more than unfair opinion. Indeed, this is the author who cites the most authors and rulings under each entry in a work presented as a dictionary. Moreover, it should be considered, on the whole, more as a dictionary of rulings than as an encyclopedic dictionary.
