    This treatise is the fruit of the commercial law courses taught by the author at the Faculty of Law in Paris between 1935 and 1945. The author published only three editions during his lifetime. The preface, dated 1947 (first edition), concludes with these words: “I cannot complain that the most unexpected events have given me the necessary time to complete it, since these months have thus passed quickly…”
