2 t. in 1 vol. in-4, full blond calf, gilt title on blond pc, spine with 5 raised bands decorated with fleurons and double gilt framing fillets, rolls underlining the bands, marbled edges (joints split at the ends, boards rubbed with some scuffs, some wormholes without affecting the text, corners bumped with some losses, some foxing), XX-365 p.- [2 ff] / 400 p.
This is the first major treatise on the question of the right—or rights—of Lods, situated at the very boundary between taxation and private interest. This right is twofold, encompassing both the right of relief or redemption and the right of seisin. Charondas summarizes this right thus: "It is the right that the Lord grants to his subject to seize and clothe him." A rare and sought-after text.
