    Throughout his life, the author devoted himself almost exclusively to the subject of donations, on which he wrote four treatises. In this treatise, he is particularly harsh on those who make unsuitable marriages. In keeping with contemporary thinking, La Rouvière conflates the grounds for revoking donations with those that, in his view, justify disinheriting adult children who have nevertheless married against their parents' consent to a woman of questionable morals. Marked by the spirit of the Ancien Régime, this rigid view did not inspire the legislators of 1804. However, the comparative analysis of all the customs of the kingdom, presented in valuable summary tables, is commendable.
