Under this title, a work comprised of two distinct parts. First, a collection of fundamental texts of Roman law, not translated but presented and, above all, extensively annotated in French. Second, an exceptionally comprehensive “Introduction to the Study of Law,” in which the author, known to have been a pillar of the Thémis school, reflects on the concept of law and, more importantly, on its teaching methods at the Faculty of Law in Paris. It is thus an important testimony to the attempts to reform this teaching by a school that was very vehemently opposed to Dean Delvincourt.
