Jahrhundert, Strasbourg, Heitz 1908, p. 45), was the founder of a Protestant interpretation of Roman law. He was also the most important Protestant printer in Geneva, notably publishing the Protestant martyrology. This work clearly demonstrates the philological aims of the Protestant analysis of texts. Our volume also contains all the texts of Roman law and the commentaries established by the author, including the Institutions, the study of the Law of the Twelve Tables, and treatises on what is essential for the study of Roman law (the origin of law, the meaning of the words in the various ancient rules). Our copy appears to be from the first edition, published during the author's lifetime. It is missing from the major libraries (BNF, Library of Congress - which has a later edition -, Van Zyl collection…).
