in-12, marbled brown calf, gilt title on burgundy title page, spine with 5 raised bands decorated with gilt tools, fillets and rolls, blind-tooled fillets framing the covers, red edges, (upper joint slightly split, upper headcap damaged with slight loss, some foxing), good copy despite the aforementioned defects, XII-368 p.-[2 ff.].
Here we have a remarkable text on feudal law presented in the form of a code (even though this law was never officially codified), and which is particularly valuable for its clarity and precise references to leading authors (Loyseau, Bacquet, Guyot), making it an extremely useful starting point on this subject. Dupin (ref. 1074 for the 1771 and 1780 editions) indicates that it is presented as a collection of maxims drawn from ordinances, decrees, and legal opinions. First edition.
