    2 vols. in-12, mottled brown calfskin, spine with raised bands decorated with fleurons, gilt titles and volumes on burgundy and havana paper, fillets on the edges, red edges, continuous pagination on both vols., (marked joints, some small abrasions on the covers, corners bumped with small losses, some foxing), a fine copy despite the defects indicated, LIX-705 p. (1 f.).
    (Dupin no. 1708). Undoubtedly the best commentary on Colbert's 1670 penal ordinance. This is indisputably the work of the finest criminal lawyer of his time, striking a balance between Beccaria and Muyart de Vouglans. This edition, not cited by Dupin, appears to be a strict reproduction of the 1763 edition, considered the best, as it contains the important text entitled "General Idea of ​​Criminal Justice," which constitutes one of the most concise and best-assimilated visions of the penal law stemming from the 1670 ordinance. This edition is also updated with notes by Joli de Fleury, former Attorney General to the Parliament of Paris. The book is in fine condition.
